Representation Matters, Berlin

5:00pm-7:00pm CET

The world is changing – fast. Business and political leaders face new challenges to growth from economic uncertainty, geopolitical shifts, and demographic changes. Economic recovery from COVID-19 remains sluggish, with global growth expected to be essentially flat at 2.7% in 2025, nearly half a point below the average of the decade before the pandemic, according to the World Bank’s latest Global Economic Prospects report.

World leaders aiming to tackle these challenges and spur growth need look no further than their own citizens – their female citizens. Achieving gender parity in employment could boost global GDP by 20%, according to the World Bank.

But first, representation is essential. In this German-language event, the Representation Matters program — a joint initiative between Women Political Leaders, the Oliver Wyman Forum, and the World Bank's Women, Business and the Law project — will present its latest report, which examines the impact of women’s political leadership on workforce participation and economic growth. Our new research finds that female political representation correlates with crucial protections regarding safety, financial independence, childcare, and other domains, allowing for equal participation in society and the economy.
